What's Present Simple Tense?
Present Simple is one of the most important tenses in English. We often use it to speak about daily routine or facts
Examples:
We go to school every day.
Spring is the finest season.
Habits & Routine
I always visit my grandparents.
We go to the club every Friday.
Facts
ice melts in hot weather.
The lion is the king of the jungle.
How do we form a sentence in the present simple tense?
- We use the base (root) form of the verb to make a sentence in the present simple tens.
- We add s/es to the verb after singular nouns or pronouns (third person singular.
Verbs in present simple:
- Ahmed reads the Quran every day.
- Mona always helps her mother in the kitchen.
- My cat likes drinking milk.
- He reads the Quran every day.
- She always helps her mother in the kitchen.
- It likes drinking milk.
There are many keywords that exposes habits, facts and feelings. These words are like:
- always
- usually
- sometimes
- every
- rarely
- often
- seldom
- never
- frequently
(don’t /doesn’t) لنفي المضارع البسيط نسبق الفعل ب
- I play tennis in the club. (negative)
- I don't play tennis in the club.
- They speak English well. (negative)
- They don't speak English well.
- Samy enjoys travelling. (negative)
- Samy doesn't enjoy travelling.
- The boy sings nicely. (negative)
- The boy doesn't sing nicely.
